Just Breathe
A Simple Way to Boost Your Productivity
One of the worst parts about being a copywriter is that I spend most of my working hours in front of a computer.
I'll be typing away, making tremendous progress, and then I'll get stuck on a word.
"I just used that word in the last sentence," I think to myself. "What's another word that might work better?"
So I open a new window and start searching the thesaurus.
Now I'm out of "writing mode," and into research mode, so I go to a competitor's website and make sure I'm not misusing any of the lingo in my own copy.
Then I click on their social media links to see which words their fans are using... and it's down the rabbit hole I go.
20 minutes later, I realize I'm just surfing the internet, so I close all my windows and get back to writing. But it takes a while for me to get back into the flow.
If this happens more than twice a day, I end up losing hours of what would otherwise be productive time.
So, I'm training myself to be more focused with my writing... by spending 2 - 5 minutes each morning, focusing on my breathing. And it's amazing how much difference it makes for me.
I'll get to the point.
This week, Purdeep Sangha and I recorded an episode of his podcast, The Male Entrepreneur. He let me pick his brain on the subject of meditation, breathing, focus, and productivity.
It was a fantastic conversation. He answered a bunch of questions I had, being someone who's always struggled with keeping myself focused. And so, I wanted to give you the chance to hear it.
This one little practice - focusing on my breathing for a few minutes each morning - has already made a huge impact on my life. If you want to hear Purdeep break it down in a way that anyone can grasp, you gotta check out the latest episode of his podcast.
